TEACHING

Saxophone Teaching
Harri Sjöström has been teaching saxophone since 1981. His students range from complete beginners to advanced and professional musicians, and in age from young schoolchildren to retired professors. His teaching is always tailored to the individual, combining the development of instrumental technique with attentive listening, creativity, and the discovery of each student's own musical voice.
Drawing on nearly five decades of international performing, recording, and teaching experience, as well as long-standing collaborations with many of the leading personalities in contemporary improvised and creative music, he encourages students to explore sound, listening, creativity, and musical expression in an open and supportive environment.

[ENG] Introduction to Improvisation
This course is designed for anyone interested in the art of improvisation, regardless of previous experience.
Music-making is approached as a conversation—a social encounter between people. Improvisation becomes a form of communication through the language of sound and resonance, encouraging intuition, attentive listening, and genuine interaction. Participants develop not only their musical skills but also their awareness of themselves and of others.

The course offers a holistic approach to music-making, where curiosity, creativity, openness, and trust are valued as highly as technical ability. Through individual and group exercises, participants discover new ways of listening, responding, and shaping music in the moment.
